Prescott's Microbiology, published by McGraw-Hill Education, have a history of 26 years since the 1st edition. The book now is the 10th edition, contributed by a new author team since 2008. It has been extensively used as textbook in microbiology course in a lot of country. Its version updated once every 3 years, striving to reflect the new knowledge and technology at the frontier of microbiology. The book provides a balanced, comprehensive introduction to all major areas of microbiology. The presenting of the book was based on the need of readers (students) with readability, reasonable arrangement, flexible structure, exquisite artwork and powerful supporting resources. Analysis of the different versions of the book to understand their knowledge system, structure and content, will be helpful in improving the quality of Chinese textbook for undergraduate students.
